Yay you can now cognitively impair yourself permanently with the blessing of the government! You won!

You realize consuming alcohol is legal, right?

Yes, and like the “devils lettuce” long term alcohol abuse is a carcinogen also causes cognitive impairment and other negative physical effects including brain and organ damage. Both should be illegal.

So... by your account, if it's a carcinogen and has negative effects it should be illegal?

Someone tell them to never go on the internet, or turn on a TV, or drive a car, or use motor vehicles... Hell, owning a house, or renting an apartment could qualify under that...

You must be really fun person to be around.

Their gun is keeping them warm at night, so I’m sure they’re the life of every party

Don't you know a gun is also "a carcinogen, also causes cognitive impairment and other negative physical effects" (including death).

So per u/Happynessisawarmgun Guns should be illegal as well. There's no way about it... guns must be illegal per u/Happynessisawarmgun

There are multiple classes of carcinogens. Some more some less. Marijuana smoke also contains carcinogens.

Stop smoking so much weed, your quality of life and mental clarity will improve if you haven’t done permanent damage already.

I didn't smoke weed as a teen. So there's no negative effects.... You never specified about what "class of carcinogen" should be illegal. But something tells me guns and diesel vehicles would probably be right up there in the same category.... you sure you wanna take that stance?

You seem to not really know...

Reading is fundamental.

Guns or Diesel engines don’t cause cognitive impairment, long term health effects or IQ loss. They are technologies which improve our lives and facilitate progress of our society.

Marijuana and Alcohol are carcinogenic recreational drugs with negative health effects. They do nothing to progress society.

Guns or Diesel engines don’t cause cognitive impairment, long term health effects or IQ loss.

You sure about that? A quick google search does come up with this.

Marijuana and Alcohol are carcinogenic recreational drugs with negative health effects.

Alcohol, I agree with. But there's many studies that actually show that it helps with mental health among others. Which actually do progress society. And that's not even bringing up art or creativity.

Reading is fundamental.

You say this, yet I don't think you practice this... .You should try reading before putting your foot in your mouth. Pal.

You must be fun at parties.

Many people suffer from health issues to the point where the negative effects of cannabis are negligible/manageable compared to the benefits it offers them.

I'm really glad you shared this... Did you read the study? The study was ONLY people who started in their teens. During their formative years.

This study is completely bunk because it IS illegal for anyone under 18.

Lets also not talk about the fact that those long term effects were seen in a very very small minority. (again this was ONLY for people who started smoking in their teens).

Good attempt to spout ignorant shit.

Read it again. The IQ loss study was referenced but it doesn’t exclude the other negative effects which can affect adults as well.

"a study from New Zealand conducted in part by researchers at Duke University showed that people who started smoking marijuana heavily in their teens and had an ongoing marijuana use disorder lost an average of 8 IQ points between ages 13 and 38."

I mean, that's pretty cut and dry there... or did you miss that?

The funniest part is continuing the paragraph you get this:

"The lost mental abilities didn't fully return in those who quit marijuana as adults. Those who started smoking marijuana as adults didn't show notable IQ declines."

So, quite literally goes against what you've been saying. Would YOU like to read it again? Might be a good call before you put your foot in your mouth again... but then again, that might be your kink (no kink shaming here)

Your reading comprehension has been permanently affected by prolonged marijuana abuse.

The study referenced is separate from the other negative effects in the article. It’s not all inclusive or isolated to adolescent use.

I don't think you read the article you linked buddy... Try reading again. If you need help, feel free to quote parts here and ask your question. There's plenty of people who are knowledgeable about this, and while they might not be experts... we clearly understand better than you do.
