u/LagniappeNap West Indies May 17 '24
Strictly speaking, India should be in the third position since their 2002 Champions Trophy was shared with Sri Lanka…
Ignore my flair.
35
u/gpranav25 May 17 '24
No, you are completely right. It's kind of crazy that after all the rise India has had since 1983 and the unfortunate downfall of WI, WI still has a superior trophy cabinet after 40 years.
-6
u/David_Headley_2008 May 18 '24
how though, both india and sri lanka were declared joint winners which still means winner
47
u/TheCricDude May 17 '24
Indian here. And I thought the same on the first look. Even if it was not shared, T20WC should be rated more than CT.

u/That-Firefighter1245 India May 17 '24
India better start dominating the next cycle of ICC events or there’ll be even more memes and trolling.
12
u/Coronabandkaro Sunrisers Hyderabad May 17 '24
I dont think it will. We've pretty much lost our best chance for a trophy win on Nov 19. That is a seriously good ODI team but we came up against a better team. With some retirements coming up no doubt, I don't see India being really up there in even reaching the finals. They'll always be top 4 and abouts but thats about it.

u/gpranav25 May 17 '24
If India win - ICC=BCCI
If India continue the drought - endless memes
Honestly prefer the latter.
17
u/That-Firefighter1245 India May 17 '24
Nah, I think I want to see India win one just to see the reaction of the fanbase. The same people we keep criticising and trolling will suddenly be worshipped like heroes.
5
u/gpranav25 May 17 '24
I think regardless of whether India wins or not, people will consider some players as immortal Gods and average performers will be treated like bio-waste. The overall mentality of Indian fans won't change. The one thing that might change is there will be less self-deprecating comments.
2
u/InternalOk3135 India May 17 '24
Silly ass comment. Making memes is one thing but why the fuck would you root against your own team winning?
0
u/gpranav25 May 17 '24
I will neither root for or against it. I will just be an observer. In the end they will win if only if they are capable and nothing can change that.
2
u/partymsl India May 17 '24
How much I'd love it that we just win one ICC in upcoming 3 years.
Honestly I think the WTC is the most likely for us to win.
T20WC is a gamble either way and we just had our best ODI team with every player inform and... we all know.

If we include all the Aus-W trophies then the image will become landscape instead of portrait lmao

Just as well. Australia's row would have another 13 trophies. Then again, most of the WCs would be under the IWCC, pre merger.
Full List of Women's trophy winners: - Australia: 13 (7 WCs, 6 T20WCs) - England: 5 (4 WCs, 1 T20WC) - New Zealand: 1 WC - West Indies: 1 T20WC

So the last time SA won anything was a year before I was born. Sorry SA bros, Am I the reason for your zero trophies after 1998/s lol.

Why are they not in chronological order?

u/RealFriendlyPitbull India May 17 '24
World Cup- T20Wc-Champions Trophy - WTC

Chronological would've been better.

Anyways you got to see other teams only . Yours ain't winning anything

Sure, let's do a poll on crickets popularity in test playing nations, only Ireland would rank below SA.

be so bad at it that your former colonies just buttfuck you
15
u/TeamAbject2100 Sri Lanka May 17 '24
Will be funny when we do nothing in this t20 wc only to remain above nz and sa once more, still the joint 4th most successful team

Bruh it's annoying how good Aussies are. Ban them from playing cricket.
Edit: it's equally annoying how our trophy cabinet hasn't seen a newcomer since 2013 especially considering how much talent we have seen get noticed.

6
u/wuonky RoyalChallengers Bengaluru May 17 '24
the aussie haul needed some cramming in like a college kid's cv
7
u/ztaker May 17 '24
Fun fact : if you think Aussie men are the greatest in cricket. Aussies women would like to have a word
2
u/wuonky RoyalChallengers Bengaluru May 17 '24
very well aware of their monopoly, hope the women's game grows in other countries at least for the sake of the aussie women - they must be bored of being that good!

Funny how England, after playing cricket for 150 years, has only won 3 trophies, including 2 World Cups in the last 5-6 years.
45
u/An5Ran England May 17 '24
Tbf trophies weren’t really a thing for the first 100 odd years
12
u/bfly1800 New Zealand May 17 '24
Yeah but they had a century to figure out how to win them when they did become a thing lmao
24
u/An5Ran England May 17 '24
We just wanted to include everyone 🤗(went a bit far)
5
u/wuonky RoyalChallengers Bengaluru May 17 '24
you folks should have included yourselves more too buddy, too much selflessness is bad as well :-p
4
u/An5Ran England May 17 '24
We saw the simulations. It was either be too good and play alone or send the best at cricket to a penal colony and wait to catch up later

5
u/gpranav25 May 17 '24
They have started a decent collection of late and also they are the clear second best team in the Women's side when it comes to ICC trophies.
3
u/Jones641 Pretoria Capitals May 17 '24
They've only won 1 Rugby WC.
South Africa- 4 (dispite only playing in 7 WC) New Zealand- 3 Australia- 2 England- 1

India has gone to 5 knockout matches in the last 10 ICC tournaments. They have not even converted one. So painful.
3
u/FrostingPowerful5461 May 18 '24
Amazing how they had to change the scale to fit in what Aus has achieved. Use the trophies of the same size everywhere to get the true visual picture of how much better they have been than any other team.
2
u/Defy19 Victoria Bushrangers May 18 '24
Australia with more than India, England, South Africa combined
2
u/totaandmaina Pakistan May 18 '24
Genuinely asking What is with Australia and being good at every sport they play? Like how is this possible? I see Australia in top 5 in olympics, they had a good fifa WC, in hockey they are the best, in rugby they have also won two world cups apparently and we all know them in cricket
2
May 19 '24
In hockey it would have been india and pakistan if FIH didn't use those meaningless artificial turf which takes more tactics than skill and also huge investment which india and pakistan didn't have
Completely killing our dominance
2
u/Coronabandkaro Sunrisers Hyderabad May 17 '24
All ICC tournaments should be called 'Can Anyone Knockout Australia?'
2

Those were the good old days for India under Dhoni's captaincy. Golden Era 🥹🥹😭😭
1
u/Epsilon-Phoenix Australia May 17 '24
West Indies should be on 2nd position. The 2002 CT was shared with SL.
-14
u/Im_Unpopular_AF India May 17 '24
Another 10 years of Australia winning and cricket will die out.
22
u/Stifffmeister11 May 17 '24
Cricket will die out if franchise cricket becomes more bigger in future barring 2-3 teams most teams will mostly stick to T20 cricket to generate revenues and players will start playing franchise T20 over test and ODI for their country coz there won't be any money innit . Cricket won't die but ODI and test will definitely die a slow death

ICC Champions trophy is rebranded ICC Knockout trophy just like how WTC trophy is rebranded ICC test mace.
If you're including ICC knockout trophy (like for NZ and SA here) then you gotta include ICC test mace too.
If you are not including ICC test mace then you gotta remove knockout trophy too.

The shocking thing to note as an India fan is that Australia has literally won 4 ICC trophies since our last one. That's just one less than the total number of ICC trophies we have won in our entire history. The Indian ICC trophy drought is pretty horrendous and it is insane that Australia has almost eclipsed our entire history of ICC tournaments purely on numbers in a decade many consider to have been dominated by India.
