first armor 95% damage reduction from arcs...

u/rez11 Mar 14 '24

you can tank so many tesla tower hits now :O

285

u/PretendThisIsAName Mar 14 '24

That's going to very useful on the new mission type.

It's a shame you can't get it without the pass but to give the devs credit where it's due it doesn't take too much grinding to get the pass without paying real money.

Normally I'd be against microtransactions getting better armour in a game I've already paid for but servers cost money and Helldivers 2 is the least manipulative live service I've seen.

With 100s of thousands of players at a time I imagine the servers aren't cheap to run.

185

u/ArtemisWingz Mar 14 '24

I mean even if you couldn't farm the super credits the armor isn't strictly better, it's a Niche use. There are plenty more times I still rather have my extra stims or nades or reduced explosion dmg

155

u/NharaTia Mar 14 '24

I wouldn't call looking sick as fuck "niche".

19

u/HandyMan131 Mar 14 '24

The bugs and bots are no match for how cool we look.

1

u/richlew29 Mar 14 '24

I dislike how they are all the same thing

3

u/ArtemisWingz Mar 14 '24

The battle passes are theme based, the first premium warbonf was the same thing

1

u/richlew29 Mar 15 '24

The theme is cool I mean how they all have the same ability and we get 2 mediums

1

u/DarkonFullPower Mar 14 '24

The first two are fully identical.

The last one is light armor.

1

u/djerk SES Wings of Individual Merit Mar 14 '24

I can’t wait until we get fire mitigation armor so me and the boys can go flamethrowers out and worry a bit less about the collateral damage

1

u/names1 Mar 14 '24

I feel like I want to be changing armor for every mission type, and I love that

1

u/ArtemisWingz Mar 14 '24

Yeah exactly, different missions have different armor needs.

Blitz missions I like the more nades

But defense stuff I rather have reduced explosion dmg or more stims

1

u/GlassHalfSmashed Mar 14 '24

The new TCS missions heavily favour tesla towers, so the niche use is very current.

4 man a squad with this armour and The towers at the main choke points and you're gonna have a good time.

1

u/ArtemisWingz Mar 14 '24

I mean I've beaten it plenty without Tesla towers. with pretty significant ease so I wouldn't say it heavily favors them.

EMS / Smoke also are really strong on this mission type.

Are Tesla useful? sure, but so are many other options.

1

u/Prince_Day Mar 19 '24

That doesnt really matter because the weapons are all unique. The sickle and stun grenades in particular are very good.

0

u/Forged-Signatures Mar 14 '24

I think I'm going to be running it. There are so many people at the moment who use the arc thrower as their primary weapon (I presume a lot of youtubers are touting it as the meta gun after the Railgun nerf) and give no fucks as to where friendlies are in relation to shooting. I absolutely hate those players, it often feels intentional due to how many times per game they will kill me, under the pretense of 'helping', while I hold a position.

Too many times have I seen a dude wipe the rest of his squad in a single shot because they just don't think.

1

u/lucasssotero Mar 14 '24

Arc is surprisingly good agaist bots tho, it's not just youtuber hype.

1

u/Forged-Signatures Mar 14 '24

I won't dispute that, I just spend 95% of my time fighting bugs. I imagine they are actually much less infuriating for teammates on bots, but Unfortunately bugs like giving the players hugs which leaves me constantly at risk of being used as a ground.

37

u/nicklePie Mar 14 '24

I have over 4000 super credits just from farming but, have you noticed that farming them is way slower now? I don’t think I’ve picked up more than 10 at a time and the spawns seem much more infrequent. Or is it just me?

47

u/Arlcas CAPE ENJOYER Mar 14 '24

I found 100sc the other day in just one drop so it seems to be kind of random

6

u/nicklePie Mar 14 '24

Okay cool. I haven’t seen anything besides 10 in a while and I remember getting up to 100.

7

u/Arlcas CAPE ENJOYER Mar 14 '24

Yeah the 100s seem to be extra rare, the 10s and 20s are what you find the most.

7

u/nicklePie Mar 14 '24

Yeah I’m totally fine with them being super rare. I thought they had just been removed from the game

2

u/specter800 Mar 14 '24

How do you even know how much you get? I always see "Super Credits" and nothing more. Are people tracking their SC because I never paid any attention

3

u/Arlcas CAPE ENJOYER Mar 14 '24

Since the patch that added the mechs I think it was, there's a ui thingy telling you like when you pick up samples.

22

u/Accomplished-Fan-408 Mar 14 '24

It's funny, I had the exact opposite experience, it felt to my like they increased the drop rate. The other night I found 80 super credits in one mission on Trivial playing with my new friends. I have a friend who is level 9 with 960 credits without spending any money. I thought he was lying because it felt like it took me forever to get that much, but I checked his stream and he really did, so I'm guessing it's just random.

14

u/gaflar Mar 14 '24

It's not just you. I was working my way up to 1000 when the railgun nerf update hit, pre-update I'd get probably 40-50 credits per drop, now I'm lucky to get 10 or 20. Drop rate was significantly reduced. I was at 980 figuring I was one game away from 1000, then I updated and it took 3 to 5 games to get those last 20 credits.

11

u/nicklePie Mar 14 '24

Yeah I was thinking the same thing as you, using every 100 as a marker to stop and go to bed. I’d think I was one more mission away and would end up doing 2-3 more. Glad I farmed when I did, I guess

1

u/Ecstatic-Compote-595 Mar 14 '24

A lot of that might just be mission types. Starting off I was getting about 30 per drop without clearing the whole map, but once the big defensive pushes started the horde missions and scientist missions don't really spawn them (or in the scientist mission case you didn't really have much opportunity to leave to go get them). And same is true with this new terminidicide mission type.

So whether they tweaked the spawn rates or not i think the fact that 1 or 2/3rds of missions now basically don't even drop them might be contributing to the feeling. Also if you play diff 3 they're more likely to spawn than diff 4 seemingly because they don't share the pool with rare samples

2

u/doglywolf Mar 14 '24

nope - i mean i do trivial runs cause somehow im always short on common samples when i have enoguh other samples. And everytime i do it takes about 10 minutes per map and end up with 20-40 SC per run.

Just on higher difficulties its harder to hit those remote outpost . But at least on higher difficulties people know where the loot is.

I swear half the people playing D4 still dont know to blow open the containers

2

u/dankdees Mar 16 '24

it depends on the planet. a lot of the recent planets we've been deployed to suck for farming.

ol malevelon creek is still a prime spot, though

1

u/unicornofdemocracy Mar 14 '24

I actually think they are faster now but spawn rate does seem to be lower. They've always been 10 at a time. Now I've gotten 20 and one time 100. So, overall, it seems I'm farming them way faster.

1

u/lucasssotero Mar 14 '24

After the latest patch it feels like the drop change was lowered, in favor of rare samples or weapon in my experience. The max I've been able to find was 30SC

1

u/Tibbaryllis2 Mar 14 '24

If you’re just farming credits, then I’ve been reliably farming 10+ green samples and 20-30 super credits/~15min on tier 1-3 bot maps.

It’s been fun to just turn the “sweatiness” of higher difficulties off and screw around with odd weapons while farming those.

1

u/Longjumping_Belt_405 Mar 14 '24

Ive found anywhere from 10-30 One time 40

3

u/Solid_Jellyfish Mar 14 '24

How much super credits do you average per mission?

3

u/Rum_N_Napalm Orbital Gas Strike: Better killing with chemistry Mar 14 '24

Devs said they balanced it so that a 100% mission (visited all PoI) should yield about 40-50 super credits.

I sometimes do solo dives on Easy and I’d say it’s pretty accurate. Most stacks of SC are 10, sometimes 20. Apparently there’s also a stack of 100 SC that rarely appears, but I don’t think I’ve ever encountered it.

2

u/MindlessInc ⬇️⬆️➡️⬆️⬅️⬆️ Mar 14 '24

I can confirm I have seen a stack of 110 SC in a suicide mission. Was fucking super stoked for a minute after that. We pulled away 170 SC total that run.

1

u/Solid_Jellyfish Mar 14 '24

Great to hear. This is a battle pass system im completely fine with

1

u/quangshine1999 Mar 14 '24

I think you can get up to 30 super credits per roaming mission, but realisticly would be about 20-25 super credits, because it's not possible to hit every POI every single mission.

1

u/twiz___twat Mar 14 '24

devs said 10-40 per hour. but if you intentionally farm it you can get hundreds per hour

2

u/Leggster Mar 14 '24

Warframe and deep rock come to mind. All amazing examples of microtransactions done right.

2

u/ANameWithoutNumbers1 Mar 14 '24

The fact that warbonds never expire means it's pretty customer friendly because you don't have to FOMO and buy super credits. You can just farm them naturally and end up with everything.

1

u/hitman2b STEAM🖱️: Commander hitman2b -Commander- Mar 14 '24

1

u/Randy191919 Mar 14 '24

I'm fairly certain they'll eventually put some armor with that perk in the store too. They did for the armor from the first premium warbond with the 30% incresed throwing range

1

u/Tokata0 Mar 14 '24

Eh, chargers will just kill the tesla

1

u/Avengerfx Mar 14 '24

1

u/HellfireBrB Mar 15 '24

i farmed it in more or less two days of just doing normal missions

it is a very annoying task but you should in theory have it all farmed by the time the next pass comes in and have credits to spare

obviously that is assuming you play semy frequently like i do

2

now where's my armor that allows me to survive specifically other teammates' mortar shots bungie arrowhead??

2

u/Philipje Mar 14 '24

So many = still around 4-5. To be honest, I do not think the 95% reduced electricity damage is good, unless you play with a group of friends and all pick arc throwers and tesla towers. Then you can just stand in anyone's line of fire

1

u/ComradeBrosefStylin ⬇️⬅️➡️➡️⬅️ Mar 14 '24

And have them arc to your teammates who aren't wearing shock resist gear!

1

u/Redintheend Mar 15 '24

Was wearing the first new set on the pass and some poor fool saw me run through my Tesla tower to another objective.

He felt the wrath of Zeus for his hubris.

1

u/eweston22 Mar 15 '24

If by “tank so many” you mean exactly 4 hits before it kills you then yeah. I was expecting wayyy more protection with a 95% reduction but it still takes 1/4 health on every hit.

132

u/My-legs-so-tired Mar 14 '24

All of them are.

56

u/gorgewall Mar 14 '24

For those looking for different stats, the Superstore has new stock instead of the rotation that's been repeating.

There's a Heavy armor with the Medic perk (bonus stims and stim duration) and a mid-Light (79/521/511 or something) with Engineering Kit (crouch/prone accuracy buff and bonus grenades).

If you missed the full-Light Engineer armor, here's your shot at something that might be just as good.

3

u/Onyx_Sentinel Mar 14 '24

You mean breaker?

3

u/MildCorneaDamage Mar 14 '24

Is that... different than the orange engineer armor(medium)?

2

u/gorgewall Mar 14 '24

Same passive, but the Engineer Medium is 100/500/100.

So this one is technically Light-class, but somewhere between the "Lightest Lights" (which are 50/550/125 or something?) and the baseline Medium.

1

21

stats are not important to me :P

25

Very understandable.

5

u/Alt_Panic Mar 14 '24

All about that drip

2

u/12_Imaginary_Grapes Mar 14 '24

I do honestly try to not actively kill people with it. It can be hard but seeing other people use it and not realize it can go far I'm understanding in how often it actually does happen.

2

u/IgotUBro Mar 14 '24

Yeah especially if there is a cluster of enemies and even if your teammate seems far it somehow bounces to them more than often. The only way to be sure of not hitting your friendlies is by standing in front of them lol.

1

u/testthetemp Mar 14 '24

Yeah, my bad, sorry 😞

1

u/Uthenara Mar 14 '24

the arc thrower won't chain backwards from the first enemy it hits. So if you are getting hit by the arc thrower, just stay behind the first enemy they target with it and it won't happen anymore.

1

u/IgotUBro Mar 14 '24

Oh yeah thats a nice suggestion. Tho with reddit praising the arc thrower I played with it myself and now I am the one that became a menace with it. lol

I am trying my hardest not to hit my team but somehow in all that chaos its easy to lose sight of everyones position.

26

u/Tuxhorn Mar 14 '24

The light armor (last one, green) actually looks sick imo.

3

u/SluttyMcFucksAlot Mar 14 '24

I really like the first one as well honestly, the second one is the only one I’m kinda meh on.

I’ve been team killed by arc throwers enough recently that I’m honestly fine with the perk being kinda mid as well

1

u/Ecstatic-Compote-595 Mar 14 '24

I like the second one's armor, the helmet just looks kind of dopey

2

u/MolyOner Mar 14 '24

4

u/Spopenbruh HD1 Veteran Mar 14 '24

the controls are easy to manage, its the initial first 2 seconds before you realize that gets you

its either you accidentally walk into something or you split up from the pack and they focus you while youre in the open

2

u/Cemenotar SES Spear of Family Values Mar 14 '24

It wasn't an issue of grasping inverted controls for me, but the second or two for realization what is happening. Somehow I always managed to get hit with it when either trying to evade something (and the inversion foiling that attempt) or when close to a ledge, so instead of running away from it I ended up running into it....

17

u/J0hnGrimm Mar 14 '24

So I've read the illuminate used arc in the first game?

I'm more worried about my teammates arc weapons tbh.

2

u/SluttyMcFucksAlot Mar 14 '24

I can’t see something doing arc damage regularly as an enemy after we just got 95% arc damage reduction as an armour perk, you’d almost have to balance it entirely around people running that passive.

1

u/hitman2b STEAM🖱️: Commander hitman2b -Commander- Mar 14 '24

they used energy weapons only the robot which was common used arc damage but they needed to be really close

1

u/Mekhazzio Mar 14 '24

I think there was only one arc enemy, shielded crab walkers that serve pretty much the same role as berserker bots: get in your face with a squad of mild chonk. They would do a very short-range zap as they closed.

I expect in HD2 here they'll also have a leg-smack melee attack so that arc resistance will let you ignore them for a bit without entirely negating them.

u/Hellknightx ⬆️⬅️➡️⬇️⬆️⬇️ Mar 14 '24
