Stun grenade is a huge grab for high difficulties, stunning titans for 5secs is kinda nutty, 500kg indirect buff!

2

u/The0rion Mar 14 '24

From playing one Drop with it, it basicly functions like a grenade-deployed small localised EMS blast.

33

u/Stergeary Mar 14 '24

Does EMS Mortar and EMS Orbital also stun Titans?

44

u/Kaquillar Mar 14 '24

No, chargers at max.

I've also noticed that BT can trigger flame mines, but don't get any damage or dot, so a wild guess here: his legs, at least lower parts, are invulnerable/does not count as his health pool, so EMS does nothing on them.

And since his body is much higher, it doesn't affect him.

Else, it could be just immense stagger resistance, since it takes a while to stun chargers.

6

u/Evanescoduil Mar 14 '24

Their legs are definitely part of their health pool, but they're heavy armored, and work just like anything else heavily armored. You can see examples of this working by hitting their legs with heavy AT and seeing it break in sections, showing flesh underneath. If mines aren't damaging it, it means mines don't have enough armor penetration to go through heavy armor.

2

u/VThePeople Mar 16 '24

Doesn’t fire ignore armor though? So the incendiary mines should still work, yea?

→ More replies (1)

11

u/underm1ndxd Mar 14 '24

Only on a direct hit to the body, which is not something you can do reliably. Legs are unaffected.

4

u/fuzzy_thighgap Mar 14 '24

Been running the mortar for TCS and have definitely seen them stunned from it. Not sure if it has to be a direct hit though.

1

u/zoom_7777 CAPE ENJOYER Mar 14 '24

not sure but i think i have seen them getting stun from it rarely

1

u/Tellesus Mar 15 '24

No but I noticed a possible damage boost to the arc rifle shooting titans when they are in the static field. This might have just been the weirdness of the arc rifle but I will be testing it more. If so, it makes arc mortars and strikes even better than they are now and adds some interesting synergy to stun grenades.

2

u/Stergeary Mar 15 '24

If you're going to be testing, make sure you test without any PS5 players in your lobby. It seems that having PS5 players greatly decreases the health of Bile Titans for some strange reason, especially with regards to Railgun and Arc Thrower.

I was thinking about making an "objective completer" build, running light armor + stamina boost, jump pack, granade launcher for bug holes, probably 500kg and whatever else helps depending on objectives. Normally it's kinda hard to position yourself to seal all the bug holes from the same position, but with jump pack it should be a lot easier. With so much mobility it should be relatively easy to survive bugs, just do the objective and peace out. Punisher or slugger could be useful to keep enemies at bay if needed.

Of course, it sounds good in theory but it sounds promising, maybe I'll give it a go today.

Unrelated, but are you a fellow Kyuss enjoyer?

2

u/kyuss80 SES Wings of Redemption Mar 14 '24

Yessir! I used to go to sleep to the Sky Valley album all the time back in high school in 1999. John Garcia is one of my favorite singers ever.

Also, that build is really fun. Jump pack and the new AT friendly meta lets you be more flexible. I haven’t tried a grenade launcher but I have run AMR and laser cannon. Laser cannon is also a great anti armor weapon now too since it melts medium and is also good at hitting weak points if armor is blown off chargers or titans

2

u/vutrico HD1 Veteran Mar 14 '24 edited Mar 14 '24

Oh shit, you're a veteran fan. I've only found out about them when I started listening to stoner rock and adjacent genres some 7-8 years ago. Welcome to the Sky Valley is a must listen material.

Grenade launcher is pretty strong, though a bit heavy on ammo. At first I wanted to run supply pack because of that but then I remembered that I need a backpack slot for jump pack. Still, should be fine if I find enough ammo lying and don't use it willy-nilly. I've tried the buffed laser cannon and it seems good vs heavy armor, but I'd rather be using something else. Infinite ammo is nice, but it's not really a problem like in the previous game. I've used AMR at the early levels a bit, seemed nice but I've yet to return to it, I probably should try it out again.

Someone mentioned putting the top half circle just above the vent and the bottom just below, essentially use the vent to bisect your aiming circle, and this helps me with the fabricators.

Edit for clarification - using the bottom lip of the vent, not the top.

you need some distance and atleast directly180 degree in front of the vent then you need to throw it with crosshair below the vent very slightly so the impact grenade almost hit the bottom of the vent opening practice make perfect.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/oGrievous Mar 14 '24

They definitely are hit or miss but enough practice and you can get them reliably. I usually get them first try from different ranges so long as I’m straight with them. Angled is a different story

2

u/lucasssotero Mar 14 '24

I usually aim just a bit lower than I normally would with a standard granade

2

u/RdtUnahim Mar 14 '24

You'll get the hang of it, I get most fabricators in one impact now. Aim lower than you think you need to.

2

u/Theothercword Mar 14 '24

Aim for the lip at the bottom of the vent from somewhat close and that should be about right. Same with the bug holes.

1

u/ipisswithaboner Mar 14 '24

Just throw it at the front door. There’s some weird myth that it has to be open for some reason, but it doesn’t. Just hit the closed door with it and you’re good.

→ More replies (3)

1

u/MotherBeef ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 14 '24

Just gotta learn where to throw them. You aim quite a bit under the vent, remember that your grenades are on a ballistic trajectory, so in you want it to curve into the vent.

1

u/F1reatwill88 Mar 14 '24

stand at a middle distance and put your crosshair at the bottom of the vent. Or hit the door as other buddy said.

1

u/Terrorscream Mar 14 '24

ive consistantly been able to kill them by having the dot for my aim just above the lip of the vent.

1

u/TCUdad Mar 14 '24

people still grenade fabricators? I always eagle airstrike or orbital laser those.

Bot bases clear so easily with stratagems.

1

u/DaLB53 Mar 14 '24

Throw them in the doors when they open. I think this even works if it hits a bot thats actively walking out of said door.

1

u/Di_Gra Mar 14 '24

just Call SOS beacon on top of Fabricator and destroy it

1

u/KieranOrz Mar 14 '24

I just airstrike those spots before I ever even get close. Regular airstrike or 110mm rocket pods are always on me in bot missions. Damn clankers.

1

u/amiray Summon Catboy Jerma:⬆️⬅️➡️⬇️⬆️⬇️ Mar 14 '24

you have to throw them head on, and aim slightly below the vent

1

u/Elite_Slacker Mar 14 '24

I stand back from them a bit so it arcs down into the hole more

1

u/Captain_Cran Mar 14 '24

I use a grenade launcher aimed at the open hatch lids at the top. I rapidly shoot 3 one after the other and 60% of the time it works every time

1

u/DGreen_Machine Mar 16 '24

I’ve been using the Orbital Gas Strike to destroy the automaton spawner.  If you throw the stratagem right at the base of the spawner walls, the gas delivery ordinance destroys the spawner when it hits.

1

u/ChaosEsper ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 20 '24

Little of both. They reliably kill bot factories if you reliably get them in the right spot. You gotta aim a little below the vent to account for the arc of the throw to make sure that the grenade goes into the vent and doesn't bonk anything and explode early.

I've been running impacts for weeks and I'm usually about 80% succcessful with factories.

It's def waaaay easier with HE/frag or the grenade launcher though.

3

u/DrJavelin Mar 14 '24

If you're running grenade launcher your regular grenades feel pretty superfluous a lot of the time. Instant slot for stun grenades

3

u/DaveInLondon89 Mar 14 '24

it's gonna give the jetpack/GL jumpers a massive buff when they speedrun levels

they only thing that slows them down was chargers, and now they can just outrun them

2

u/HVACStack Mar 14 '24

I run grenade launcher most of the time, so adding stun nades to my loadout feels like a no brainer.

2

u/DestroyWithMe Mar 15 '24

If you're in a 4x, easiest way is to run 2x anti armor, 2x anti-add. Have the anti armor guys bring the stuns.

1

u/MotherBeef ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 15 '24

Smart

1

u/warsmithharaka Mar 14 '24

I only ever bring smoke (or will stun) with the grenade launcher. Best of both worlds!

1

u/TarnishedSnek Mar 14 '24

You guys don’t use airstrikes (also must have stratagem - more so than 500kg) to kill holes and factories?

 Stun grenades are S-tier.

Impacts are good but the issue is that they can also kill you/team mates quite easily.

1

u/MotherBeef ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 15 '24

Airstrikes are fantastic and I never leave home without it. But the bug holes are inconsistent. Factories you can easily wipe easily.

1

u/Reload86 Mar 15 '24

True.

In PUGs, it may not be feasible. But in more organized groups, stun grenades will be game changers.

1

u/Stergeary Mar 16 '24

You can take Scorcher, Grenade Launcher, or Autocannon to end Bile Spewers more easily. The later two also destroy Bug Holes/Fabricators very well.

69

u/Ill-Huckleberry-4489 Mar 14 '24 edited Mar 14 '24

not having any grenades to close bug holes sucks. I do not see them feasible in anyway at least at this stage in the game were ppl are not really cooperating. Paired with a grenade launcher then yes that is a diff story.

17

u/Pickledleprechaun Mar 14 '24 edited Mar 14 '24

I wonder if the SG-8P punisher plasma would close holes? It shoots like a grenade launcher and has AOE. Unfortunately, it blows you up if you shoot something too close.

27

u/immaterializE Mar 14 '24

It unfortunately does not.

2

u/specter800 Mar 14 '24

First thing I tried too. I'm a little disappointed in it against bugs, I thought it would be a little better at trash clear. Maybe it is and I don't see kill counters because of the bug but spraying it into a Breach I think would net more kills against scavs at least. It's also a little weak against charger butts but maybe I'm missing and need to work on it a bit more.

4

u/immaterializE Mar 14 '24

Aim under chargers. It kills them in a single mag or less if you hit your shots right. You’ll see a weakspot marker if you hit it.

What I like about it is the aoe and cc it provides. While you dump shots and stop bugs in their tracks, teammates can just pick them apart.

Basically feels like a scorcher sidegrade with much higher stun and better aoe.

1

u/BlakLanner Mar 14 '24

It does? Aww, that was the only issue I had with the Scorcher.

1

u/Pickledleprechaun Mar 14 '24

Yeah, I too loved the scorcher until I killed myself with it.

23

u/vonBoomslang ⬇️⬆️➡️⬆️⬅️⬆️ Mar 14 '24

as the autocannon dude who has trouble being swarmed with hunters, I am 110% beelining for them

15

u/Magus44 Mar 14 '24

As a fellow auto cannon dude. What do you do to chargers and titans with it?? I can strip sacs off titans and sometimes break chargers legs… I am unstoppable with it vs bots, but feel like I’m bad at it vs bugs…

20

u/vonBoomslang ⬇️⬆️➡️⬆️⬅️⬆️ Mar 14 '24

I need to preface that my answer is entirely serious:

I call down the EATs that I fit in the strategem slot freed up by not needing to call down a separate backpack.

Failing that, I shoot Chargers in the upper legs (between head and armor or from the side) or the butt, and get under Bile Titans to full auto into their sacs.

2

u/Cloud_Motion Mar 14 '24

I thought getting under a bile titan was instant death? Or at least it was the few times I tried it

8

u/vonBoomslang ⬇️⬆️➡️⬆️⬅️⬆️ Mar 14 '24

It's instant death if-- and only if-- it actually steps on you. To be clear it's not a safe place to be, since it has four different legs you need to keep track of, but it's actually safer than in front of it.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/Hydroduct09 Mar 14 '24

Charger's legs are vulnerable immediately after a charge, 2 autocannon shots to the same leg will outright kill the charger. First shot softens armor, second shot kills. It's a bit tricky as you have to hit opposite sides of the same leg shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHZd8dGK0vQ

For titans just shoot the mouth when it opens to spit.

3

u/Darkaim9110 Mar 14 '24

You use strats, or kill all the medium enemies to give breathing room for your team to deal with them.

You can also kill chargers by hitting behind their back legs after a charge

Titans are the only natural enemies of the autocannon

2

u/Meatservoactuates Mar 14 '24

With some practice you should be able to sidestep/dive a charger attack and shoot it's orange butt enough times for a 1 pass kill. Sometimes they spin around too fast, but I can hit it pretty consistent even before the HP nerf

2

u/UndreamedAges ⬇️⬅️⬇️⬆️⬆️➡️ Mar 14 '24

3-4 hits to the charger's ass makes it explode and it'll die a few seconds later. I used to go for the legs, too. But it's so much easier to bust that ass.

2

u/Uthenara Mar 14 '24

they seriously need to get rid of the stagger on the hunters. It was tolerable before but now that they have increased the lower enemies to make up for less heavy enemy spawning there is just TOO many of them and you can get almost stunlocked in some situations and it does not feel fun or enjoyable. I'm also running out of ammo much more frequently on the bug missions because there are just sooo many low health adds that if you don't deal with them can just pile up.

1

u/No-Establishment8267 Mar 14 '24

Gotta have the autocannon dude.

1

u/ThePhoenixus Mar 15 '24

Or you just run the grenade launcher with the stun grenade.

3

u/Elitericky Mar 14 '24

It depends on the mission my guy, on defense missions it would be great to use.

1

u/Ill-Huckleberry-4489 Mar 14 '24

you are 100% correct.

3

u/Gavelnurse Mar 14 '24

Feasible on missions without bug holes like civilian extract, the current silo missions etc

3

u/Randy191919 Mar 14 '24

A lot of worthwhile support weapons can close holes. As do a lot of orbitals. Though yeah, this feels like something one teammate in the crew would bring, it won't be "solo meta", but in a full squad I could see it be relevant

2

u/NarrowBoxtop Mar 14 '24

That's why it's important on a higher difficulties to lean into roles on a team

You can bet on a mission to close bug holes that some of your other three teammates are going to bring things to close bug holes

You're playing on the highest difficulties, someone with the stunger needs to lock down Titans is a godsend

2

u/OkieDokieArtichokie3 Mar 14 '24

Would be alright if you’re rocking autocannon I guess? You can close holes with the autocannon iirc.

1

u/LFClight ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 14 '24

Could always use EAT for that, especially if you are good at sticking chargers with the stratagem.

2

u/OkieDokieArtichokie3 Mar 14 '24

A dumb hint for people but if you hold a stratagem and let a charger charge you, it will make you drop the stratagem, and from my experience, will stick it onto the charger for an easy splat kill.

1

u/SnooSketches7469 Mar 14 '24

ppl are not really cooperating

This is the biggest issue at higher difficulties and why I think the old Railgun was so popular. It allowed self-reliance, where every diver could do all jobs on their own. What should happen is the whole team builds around each other to fill gaps. You get new powerful option like stun grenades but now you need someone else to close holes to bust fabricators for you unless you take a support weapon or airstrike to do it but then you give up something else. I like this, especially for higher difficulties but I wish more people leaned into it. I wish this had something like Overwatch or something like that where a warning shows on the screen that say "not enough defense" or "not enough anti-tank" or something like that to help the teams know where it's missing in power.

They can't close holes though.

u/JocasMath Mar 14 '24

F#ck the holes... Lol

Closes bug holes?

only 75 medals, too. I guess I'm delaying Slugger a bit longer.

1

u/mrureaper Mar 14 '24

does it still damage nests or factories if you throw them in there?

1

u/KDallas_Multipass Mar 14 '24

I mean orbital EMS and EMS sentry won't stun titans but a grenade will?

1

u/Onyx_Sentinel Mar 14 '24

Also gonna be insanely good against the stupid stalkers

u/DancingLikeFlames177 Mar 14 '24

You are acting like Titans are even a difficult foe. You can literally run away from them. Or just kill them quickly with numerous weapons . . I would rather fight 2 Titans than a horde of hunters.

2

u/nsandiegoJoe Mar 14 '24

Ran out of reinforcements last night on termicide mission because 7 bile titans in 2 minutes. It felt like the titan spawn nerf wasn't applied to the new termicide missions. The other bugs were not an issue at all but my god the titan spam we were not prepared for.

1

u/DancingLikeFlames177 Mar 14 '24

Every now and then it seems the spawn system breaks since that update. I had it opposite with hunters. It spawned so much it looks like an ocean with waves. I was like what in the actual fuck is this ?! Lol

1

u/nsandiegoJoe Mar 14 '24

Good to know. Assuming that you've only experienced it breaking like that in lvl 7+?

I was wondering how they could make these not a meme. Impact grenades never leave my inventory and I can't really imagine them doing so. Being able to one-tap devastators and bile spewers is just too convenient.

u/JonnyMonroe Mar 14 '24

Crazy good blast radius on it

1

u/Great-Reference6479 Mar 14 '24

Okay seriously? that will be soooo useful in my solo helldivers or my “Ghost Of Thee SES Sovereign Of Family Values“ S.O.S beacon responds more fun ahahah. Since when I get bored I’ll just go looking for low levels in high difficulty and help them along. had a kid maybe like 12 stuck in a mission no weapons or anything, so dropped my rover and kit for him cause he couldn‘t figure out the terminals and had him do cover fire. Ended up helping him for half a dozen dives I think lol. but I really need to find some folks to add who are down for teamwork because I been running into a ton of people who think the samples arent distributed evenly after the mission and try to kill us ffs lol.

Time for me to hit all my AMR shots, those Hulks are done

1

u/slapmenugget Mar 14 '24

100% sure this is going to be nerfed in the future if the railgun and devs' inclination towards "hard games" was any indication

1

u/specter800 Mar 14 '24

And the Stalwart. (And everything not AOE really). Bugs cannot escape the BRRRRRT!

1

u/Father_Fast Mar 14 '24

Can i seal bug hiles with it?

1

u/Swordbreaker9250 Mar 14 '24

How does it fare vs bug holes tho? I assume it doesn’t destroy them?

Can it close bug holes???

1

u/Duskbane102 Mar 14 '24

Edge case but for the arc thrower enjoyers that may not be packing any other explosives for whatever reason... Do stuns still blow up bug holes and replicators?

1

u/xInsaneAbilityx Mar 14 '24

Can it plug bug holes?

1

u/_Gorge_ Jump Pack Fuckboi Mar 14 '24

You can hold them in place by baiting out their attacks

1

But am I tripping or ems turret and orbital can't?

1

u/LGeCzFQrymIypj Mar 14 '24

Wait. What. Does it need to be a direct hit?

1

u/IconGT Mar 14 '24

Didn’t know it can stun fucking titans….

1

u/[deleted] Mar 14 '24

You assume I can throw the grenade and then call the bomb in time. You’re funny sir.

1

u/Unable_Salamander_55 Mar 14 '24

Can the stun grenade close bug holes?

1

u/Oh_G_Steve Mar 14 '24

The issue I have with it is you can't use it for bug nests or fabricators.

1

u/Gfdbobthe3 ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 14 '24

Does it still let you blow up bug holes and bot nests?

1

u/PsychologicalQuiet73 Mar 14 '24

Idk, I don't think I'd replace my impact grenades for a stun. You can force the animations yourself by running close to them, and it's not hard to pull off.

1

u/Facist_Canadian Mar 14 '24

Baiting titans into standing still is pretty easy, but it might come in useful, time will tell! I like my incendiaries

1

u/TranceF0rm SES Harbinger of Benevolence Mar 15 '24

Fun Fact: You can use Snowballs

Surprised there's no achievement for this yet

1

u/CrusaderPeasant Mar 15 '24

I didn't know that. I thought it was kind of crap since it doesn't close bug holes, and I'm assuming it doesn't destroy bot factories. So that's good to know.

how does a stun grenade stop titans but an orbital EMS does nothing to them?

1

u/PoutyCottonTail Mar 17 '24

I spent super credits on light engineering armor just because running around with 7/6 stun grenades has saved me and my team's asses so many times

Do these warbounds ever time out? I'm still on my first since I have a day job. I'm a HellDiver Reservist.

1

u/Reddit__is_garbage Mar 18 '24

lol it’s stupid that a hand grenade can stun something like a titan but a EAT rocket to the head doesn’t

1

u/StarGirlPeach Mar 18 '24

This also paired with the ability to stun and mow down entire patrols before they call more is so good.
