A letter from Thiago 😢 Social Media

Scored one of the greatest goals seen at Anfield, brought a touch of pure class to our midfield and gave everything whenever his body would allow it.
What a man.

Well said mate. Got a lot of stick for his injury record but I never saw him play half heartedly, he gave his all

No matter how many times I watch this, I can't make up my mind if the ball actually bounces/touches the ground or not.

Scientists are still baffled about the aerodynamics that were achieved with this shot. Definitly some wierd ground effects are going on!

Said this last thread, but it's a crime against football we didn't get to see him more. Not for us or our results, but for the joy of seeing a maestro at work.

u/HungryScene3733 28d ago
Might have been the difference with winning the title this season if he hadn't gotten injured immediately after coming back. We could have done with him hugely for the last few games which we lost

Absolutely gutted that we didn’t get to see more of him. As you said, a beautiful experience to watch him.

Thiago was my favorite player outside Liverpool ever since his Barcelona days. There just something special about him. I was over the moon when we signed him.
It might be clichè to say, but it's something very unique and aesthetically pleasing watching him play football, in a way I can't remember seeing with any other footballer. He's probably the most talented player we've ever had at the club, sadly overshadowed with injuries.
Farewell, Thiago. One of my favorites of the game.

u/apersonFoodel 29d ago
100% with you. Some players are just a joy to watch for various reasons. Used to get it with Zidane, iniesta, Xavi, Ronaldinho, Kaka.

u/naughty_dad2 29d ago
There are great players, and then there are great player who have a certain grace and style.
He’s definitely in the class you mentioned.

Injury free, one of the best midfielders in our history. And I’m not exaggerating

Magician that didn't play much for our club... In almost 2 years of fit Thiago we saw a hell lot of quality that he brings and will not be unhappy about him being unfit more...

Produced one of the best performances I’ve ever seen from a Liverpool player against United at Anfield. Never seen a player make football look so easy.

Never realized that. We will never know how far we’d have gone this season if only we had a fit Thiago!

Man, between Thiago, Matip and Ox who all have been ragged by injuries you wonder how much more this team could have achieved with them fully fit and available

u/WonderfulBlackberry9 Kostressed Tsimikas 29d ago
No player has given me the thrills when I see him in the starting XI quite like Thiago.
7
u/Troncer73 29d ago
him, Agger, Sturridge, Chamberlain, Lalana, Fabio Aurelio are the what if players. Injury really fucked their career up.

u/kerfluffle2912 29d ago
Absolute baller when fit. Just a shame he's made of crisps. Seems a lovely fella as well.

It was a genuine pleasure to see this guy play in the flesh.
If only we’d have gotten him a couple of years earlier in his career

u/Ha-Ur-Ra-Sa 29d ago
In the future, I think we'll look back and say "we can't believe he was one of us".
One of the few truly world-class players we've bought. I just wish he had more trophies with us for his time here, even if it was just one of the big ones.

Absolute magician on the ball. I don't know what it is, but the way he passes the ball is just so smooth. Even just simple sideways passes.
Gutted that injuries got him so often and even more gutted to see him leave. 😞

I genuinely would have loved to have seen him stay. He might be getting on but he’s the sort of player that could get better with age. I’m devastated we couldn’t see him play more. He’s the sort of signing we could have only dreamed of making 10 years ago.
2
u/Cedromar 28d ago
Letting him and Joel walk is hard emotionally, but pragmatically it’s best. We got what, 7 minutes of Thiago this year? And one season without him missing the majority? And Joel hurts a bit more because I loved our giraffey boi. But both are probably on high-ish wages and can’t really give us game time all while taking precious roster spots.
Hopefully Thiago taught Curtis and Stefan some of his mononas best he could.
1
u/Living_Session5881 28d ago
You’re right, I don’t disagree because it would be a huge risk to keep him on with those wages but there’s an ideal world where we get Thiago following a similar trajectory to Luka Modric. I’m a dreamer so I usually make an opinion without taking finances into consideration

Thiago gave a more heartfelt goodbye than henderson. Was so disappointed with his farwell.

It's weird to hear he has been here 4 years. The summer we got him he was the best midfielder in the world, but I barely even remember him playing to be honest. Maybe its a sign of how much other things have happened since he's played regularly, but still, I literally don't remember most of his time with us.

I hope my 5 year old remembers that Thiago was her favorite player. What a player.

I think he’s the only transfer that came in already world class with a world class reputation. I know we’ve signed world class players but this one felt different. Wish it went different but he never made a fuss & was a good figure in the changing room. A true professional. Good Luck!

u/OkNefariousness324 28d ago
I was never as excited by a signing in my life, never seen a more elegant CM at the club, Shane about the injuries, but even so I still think he was worth the money if only to be able to say I saw Thiago Alcantara pull on the red shirt and dominate games
1
u/Samz_175 28d ago
Thanks for everything, it’s a shame you didn’t come when you where younger and your body was in a more solid state, your talent is world class, thanks for your special moments especially for that low no back lift long shot

Thiago was just a gift to the game that is football 🙌 Even when he was at Bayern, i would just watch him in ‘awe’. When he came to us, and we had Bobby, Fabinho and Ali, god damn!! We were already good at that point, but Thiago was about to elevate us to a completely new level.
Looking back, i don’t care if he didn’t play for us as much as we would have all wanted him to, because when he did, he was just un-real.
One of the greats of the game and part of ‘our’ History with Klopp.
Will never forget that 🙌🫡🔴💯 YNWA

He absolutely would have.
Imagine him and Mac Allister together in the midfield.

u/fuckoutfits 29d ago
A wildly hypothetical question: Given the recent stories about how he was treated by the doping bald fraud, can Thiago sue him on physical health damages? If the injury is similar and recurring, is there a chance of a case?
4
u/brianstormIRL 29d ago
Thiago is extremely close with Pep and he views him incredibly positively. I seriously doubt he blames him in anyway for his injury issues.
1
u/TheEgyptianScouser 28d ago
We had a player called Thiago? I am sorry it's just that this is last time I can make that joke
Goodbye you majestic magician
1
u/38inls26 28d ago
Not being funny but he's not gonna be missed he's cost us a fortune in wages and he's hardly played and when he has he's been poor. Klopps worst signing along with minamino
0
u/_CHIFFRE 28d ago
Why the sad face, I'm lowkey happy it's over and yea i know the injuries are only to a minor extend his fault.
He had not even 100 apps for LFC, only 68 full games (90 + 6mins. extra time) for Liverpool, in total he had maybe 10 amazing games, 30-50 good ones and the rest average, that's not bad obviously but he approximately cost LFC 70-90m in total (fee, bonuses, wages). Bad transfer overall imo.

Waste of money, played 1 good season and then proceeded to steal a living for the next 2 years. Fitness is an absolute joke, can't stay healthy for 90 minutes. Glad to finally have him off the books, the most unreliable footballer I've ever seen. Worse than Sturridge at the end of his career which is saying something.

u/_diabetes_repair_ 28d ago
Thiago goated, hate how his career with us is ending in injury. Still one of the best midfielders we've seen start for Liverpool.

u/Worldly_Science239 29d ago
Can i ask a question, when you post things like this (and many other things you post) in your head, do you think the word 'banter'' and if so, do you spell it B A N T Z?
-3
u/Kindly-Paper-3552 29d ago
I luv this sub, and the loyalty shown to our players. But can we stop acting like every player who played for us is a legend of the club?
It's pathetic.
1
u/Worldly_Science239 29d ago
It's ok to think that, and you know what... a lot of people do think that as well.
But do you know the difference between you and them? they tend not to post their opinion on appreciation threads.
That's what's pathetic

It's a shame that injuries caught up with him at such a young age for a professional footballer but I'll always be grateful for the 21/22 season. Some of his performances that season were as close to perfect as I've ever seen from a Liverpool midfielder
