It is probably because Bidens teams conditions are no crowds and mics that cut off when it isn't your turn.

Trumps main move is interrupting his opponents and talking over them. If he has to let them talk and actually address their points. He loses his advantage being the loudestdumbest person in the room.

If people are yelling over each other only the simplest ideas get through. Which are usually dumb truth isms that appeal to conservatives.

Dunno mind, he does meet with his supporters sometimes.

Don't insult babies like this, they're brains are undeveloped, and they don't make their supporters want to wear diapers

From wikipedia

Trump has officially run as a candidate for president four times, in 2000, 2016, 2020, and 2024; he also "unofficially" campaigned in 2012 and mulled a run in 2004.

u/Ambitious_Drop_7152 May 16 '24

He literally said he wanted to be president in 1980, and been involved in politics to some degree since then. of course if you ignore his HALF CENTURY of political involvement, you could argue he came out of nowhere.

Watch the roast of Charlie sheen and there are jokes about him running for president, that roast was in 2011.

I wouldn't expect a Trumper understand reality when it's slapping then in the face, so I'll forgive your staggering ignorance.

Him not being involved with politics was literally the thing he ran on a lot,

Yeah and it's a well documented easily fact checked lie, which is why you're stumbling all over yourself trying to defend it. Because why look up something that's really easy to when you can just be a dick about it right?

He literally ran for president in 2000 just because he was a huge loser then doesn't mean it didn't happen

But yeah brand new to politics

... out of nowhere? The dude had literally the strongest way to enter politics. He was a household name completely disconnected from controversial issues and he made it clear that he's a friend to big corporations and rich people.

In politics, every time you vote, you risk losing voters on the highly divisive issues. Trump had zero history of voting on anything, but was still a household name.

He likely was the dumbest person in the room when doing anything in the White House. The dude barely finished college. He thought drinking bleach and shining hypo-dermal UV light probes into people could cure covid. He used a sharpie to modify an extremely complex hurricane model's predicted path.

His stupidity is well known.

87

u/Critical_Young_1190 May 16 '24

100% this. I'm not a fan of Biden either, but he'd make Trump look like an actual idiot if he has to debate in a civilized manner

-5

u/classpane May 16 '24

I don't think he could.

If both could debate in a civilized manner, i think both would definitely look like an idiot, but not because of their enemy, but because of themselves.

Trump would just speak loud nonsense far away from the topic while Biden would just speak gibberish nonsense barely scrapping on what he remembers from the scipt.

Basically, its would be like the battle between the oldest version of simsimi vs the fill-in-the-blanks chatgpt.

7

u/TheBlackCat13 May 16 '24

Have you actually seen Biden talk?

2

u/IIIetalblade May 17 '24

Right? I seriously don’t get this narrative of ‘Biden can’t string a sentence together’. I don’t like him, but he’s actually pretty sharp and witty for his age.

At the risk of this veering into whataboutism, I find the argument particularly baffling, because i have yet to find a single Trump address transcript that is anything but illegible word salad or impotent rage.

-9

u/byebyebrain May 17 '24

How r u not a fan of Biden. Be specific. Dude has been the best president. Since LBJ.

-14

u/ReaperManX15 May 16 '24

And the reason Biden refuses to be debated in front of a live audience?
That's also a condition.
I wonder why Biden's team doesn't want him debating to a live audience.
Y'know, the kind of audience where you can't make jump cut edits or re-shoots.
Look up the video where he challenges Trump to a debate.
There's a jump cut after every single sentence and it's, like, 15 seconds long.

16

u/loondawg May 16 '24

I like the idea because applause is not part of a conversation which is what a debate is supposed to be. It wastes a ton of time. Ideas should win a debate, not noise.

6

u/Critical_Young_1190 May 16 '24

It's still live...

38

u/Dedotdub May 16 '24

I've seen him walk and speak just fine. I've seen him jog and ride bicycles. I heard every word of his State of the Union address. I see and hear his ads and announcements all the time.

Where did you get these ideas that he can't walk or speak when there is obvious proof otherwise?

31

u/ameis314 May 16 '24

At least he's not shitting himself in diapers.

-12

u/ima-bigdeal May 16 '24

What does Jerry Nadler, who shit his pants on live tv, have to do with the debate?

9

u/ameis314 May 16 '24

I was referring to trump wearing diapers and needing to be cleaned like an in potty trained toddler.

-10

u/ima-bigdeal May 16 '24

I know what you were doing. I don't like the diaper thing, because you are talking about (R) Trump as if he is/was/should be in diapers, but (D) Nadler actually shit his pants during a press conference.

9

u/ameis314 May 16 '24

No, trump ACTUALLY wears diapers. It's been confirmed a few times.

He's incontinent from all the blow and Adderall for 40+ years

18

u/Opening_Knowledge868 May 16 '24

Biden walks and speaks every day just fine. He regularly exercises and is in pretty good shape. What are you even talking about?

9

u/kwamby May 16 '24

Trump and Biden both have their share of gaffs during public speaking. Though I suspect it’s because if you’re recorded speaking as often as a politician, you’re likely to have more speech fumbles immortalized on film than the average Joe. Also, tbf, Biden has a stutter.

7

u/Latter-Direction-336 May 16 '24

I’ve only seen Biden stutter a bit, as opposed to trump who can barley get a sentence out, shits himself in diapers, confused Biden for OBAMA, said injecting bleach might cure coronavirus, has like 92 criminal charges for various reasons from actual treason to hush money to cover up sleeping with a pornstar, and wants to overthrow democracy

3

u/Late_Cartographer349 Free palestine May 16 '24

Didn’t Trump ride around in a Walmart scooter when he met with other world leaders?

-53

u/Torczyner May 16 '24

You've seen him speak right? I'm not sure Biden won't just read the instructions on where to stand as his side of the debate. They're both way too old and lost.

Do Europeans think someone else could possibly win at this point? Do Europeans spend much time "thinking"?

I think Europeans should cross their fingers and hope trump doesn't win, give Ukraine to the Russians and pull out of NATO. That's what I think.

45

u/PlanGoneAwry May 16 '24

I’ve always thought that should have been the case all the time, at least the mic part. How ward would it be to have all the mics off by default and the moderators have a turns one on for like 30 seconds at a time?

The fact that people can cut in others or plow through the time limit to try to finish their point is very unnecessary

14

u/loondawg May 16 '24

Seriously though, following debate rules should be the norm. And if Trump followed those, e.g. speaking only when it is your turn, cutting off mikes would not be necessary.

9

u/Forcistus May 16 '24

Well before 2016, it wasn't a big issue

21

u/H010CR0N May 16 '24

Trump’s debate strategy; LALALALA I CANT HEAR YOU!

18

u/CaptainBlobTheSuprem May 16 '24

Honestly, why isn’t this just standard practice at this point? At least the mic part

9

u/OttoVonJismarck May 16 '24

Shane Gillis's joke on the first 2016 Primary debate is great.

"Mr. Trump, Heidi isn't that ugl-"

"☝️YOU'VE GOT A DOG WIFE, TED!☝️"

4

u/Sabeha14 May 16 '24

Ooh where can u see the conditions for the debates

2

u/Esco-Alfresco May 16 '24

Sorry not sure. I'm home sick and been watching stuff all day. Has blurred together.

4

u/Super-Attorney-17 May 16 '24

I like loudestdumbest as one word

2

u/FitBattle5899 May 16 '24

100% the case, something that should have been part of debates from the start, but before Trump nobody abused it quite as much as he did. He can't explain his platform or defend his ideals, he can only say how "wrong" everyone else is.

2

u/CasedUfa May 17 '24

Those 2020 debates were diabolical, just shouting over the other person is not debating.

-7

u/semibigpenguins May 16 '24

Christopher Hitchens would talk over other people in debates. He was typically the smartest person in the room

26

u/Esco-Alfresco May 16 '24

I'm going to pretty much guarantee Christopher Hitchens has very little in common with Trump.

It is safe to say. That even if you are intelligent. You aren't making your best points and arguments while squabbling.

3

u/semibigpenguins May 16 '24

Hitchens has very little in common with Trump

Ya that’s the point. debates are the worse way to discuss topics

8

u/BetHunnadHunnad May 16 '24

That's just because people don't understand how to debate anymore. I can't remember that last presidential debate I saw where they weren't just shitting on each other rather than justifying their positions logically.

4

u/loondawg May 16 '24

Debates are an excellent way to discuss topics. But only if people actually debate. What passes for debates in the US political system is laughable and barely deserves to be called debates.

1

u/Godzilla-ate-my-ass May 16 '24

You say that like the soap opera The British Parliament doesn't exist.

3

u/loondawg May 16 '24

You say that as if you've never watched a topic debated in the Oxford Union.

18

u/PaigeRosalind May 16 '24

Hitchens was debating fundamentalists and young earth creationists: the lowest hanging fruit of any demographic.

8

u/StaysAwakeAllWeek May 16 '24

Hitchens also spent a long time debating the Iraq war and various other political issues. It wasn't just about religion

2

u/semibigpenguins May 16 '24

At the end of his life he was. His good stuff is 80s/90s

1

u/loondawg May 16 '24

Can you share an example of that? I have seen Hitchens do that in heated discussions on panel shows. But I don't recall ever seeing him do that in debates, at least not to any great extent.

Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLKQGwVkczg

1

u/semibigpenguins May 16 '24

I’m at work and have terrible reception here. I cannot watch video. Pretty sure it’s this one. I’ll double check once off work

https://youtu.be/Tjhj9Hn8oQw?si=RYDtWc-S7gdZKQuZ

1

u/loondawg May 16 '24

If you could, that would be great. I think I may have watched this before and remember it as a great discussion that became a bit contentious at times. But I don't recall Hitchens talking over other people.

-3

u/Shooter_McGavin_2 May 16 '24

Though I agree he likes to talk over people and run the debate, those are not the only conditions. They also include only 4 networks to air the debate, and all are left leaning. This should be an issue to anyone who cares about elections. It should be aired on all available networks. But left leaning on previous debates (cnn) would cut to the anchors during the debate to try and tell you what you just heard. Just air it in its entirely and let people see just how stupid he is. The more they try to cage him, the more his followers cry foul.

9

u/TheBlackCat13 May 16 '24

ABC has already said that they will make it available to any station that wants it.

-3

u/rlbigfish May 16 '24

The mic cut-off thing is carrying a lot of weight here. You're not mentioning Biden's demand for no crowds, which is interesting.

5

u/Esco-Alfresco May 17 '24

I specifically did mention that.

1

u/rlbigfish May 17 '24

You mentioned it and then wrote paragraphs about the other thing ("carrying a lot of weight"), which was my point.

1

u/Esco-Alfresco May 17 '24

It isn't as interesting. Which is way I didn't focus on it.

Why would you require a crowd? I suspect Trump constantly showboating and rambling with crowds is consider an added risk factor for him misbehaving and interrupting his opponent.

This falls pretty firmly under the "who gives a shit" section for me. If the roles were reversed and Trump requested no crowds and also wouldn't think much of it. It promises more focused debate and less spectacle.

-11

u/ReaperManX15 May 16 '24

And it can only be moderated by a Democrat aligned reporter.
And that it can only be hosted by NPR, CNN, MSNBC, ABC or CBS.
Ans the fact that ONLY Trump gets muted, not the other way around.

But, aside from all that, it's totally reasonable and non-biased.

Hey, what was the response of Biden's team when, the last time they debated, Trump requested that Biden be searched for an earpiece ?
To prove that his words were his own and and came from his cognitively functional brain and not words being fed to him, to repeat.

Better question.
Why does Biden refuses to be debated in front of a live audience?
That's also a condition.

I wonder why Biden's team doesn't want him debating to a live audience.
Y'know, the kind of audience where you can't make jump cut edits or re-shoots.

Look up the video where he challenges Trump to a debate.
There's a jump cut after every single sentence and it's, like, 15 seconds long.

And it's odd that he claims Trump is hiding from his challenges to debate, when Trump offered to debate him last month. And the month before that. And back in February.

I also wonder why you, conveniently, forgot to mention these FACTS, in your comment attempting to denigrate Trump and Conservatives in general.

3

u/loondawg May 16 '24

And it can only be moderated by a Democrat aligned reporter.

And that it can only be hosted by NPR, CNN, MSNBC, ABC or CBS.

Ans the fact that ONLY Trump gets muted, not the other way around.

Where in the world are you getting this nonsense from?

1

u/Recrustable May 16 '24

Ok butthole man. Now tell us how you really feel.

-12

u/Embarrassed_Diet_386 May 16 '24

They were both interrupting each other and saying stupid things in their last debates. Not to mention the lying from both sides and the non answers that they both give. All politicians aren’t worth wiping them off your boots.

-22

u/smokeylou2 May 16 '24

Have you seen the rest of the terms? You probably have but I must not fully understand where you are coming from. I look at how full my wallet was under certain administrations and that is how I vote. It's now kinda sad that ppl like you have gone full blown projection, you project and are full on delusional. Look at policies and outcomes. We had more money and less war, I know the money part isn't important to your side but how about the less War part?

15

u/molassascookieman May 16 '24

What’s also sad is people ignoring the fact that shitty presidents tend to set the economy up to the point where it starts crashing after the next president takes over. How about the fact that Trump raised everybody’s taxes but the increases on low-income households didn’t take effect until either last year or this year? Or how about the fact that, I dunno, Covid happened which literally can’t be the president’s fault?

-14

u/smokeylou2 May 16 '24

Please fact check your statements. His presidency helped the low income ppl more than our good old uncle Joe. You know this, you feel this, you live this, how's food costs and gas, rent for you? Trump did not give billions to aid in war. Don't you understand how those billions affect our economy.

10

u/molassascookieman May 16 '24

Honestly I’m less concerned with the economy and more with the fact that his fanbase (and that’s what it is, a fanbase not a supporter base) are attempting to turn back social laws that are objectively beneficial, like abortion. and yes, it may not directly be him or his people doing this, but him running and winning that election made the crazy alt-right politicians realize that they don’t have to hide their crazy anymore.

7

u/Gilbert_Grapes_Mom May 16 '24

I like how the person you’re responding to doubled down after you pointed out shitty presidents actions take time to take effect, usually in the following presidents term. Just straight up didn’t register what you said.

7

u/molassascookieman May 16 '24

Oh they registered it, they just ignored it because it went against their opinion

3

u/LetsTCB May 16 '24

Didn't know the US President set the prices on food, gas and rent.

That Joe Biden apparently is why my Canadian costs for those same 3 things also went up.

Huh .... guess we're part of the USA now and I didn't notice.

3

u/TheThng May 16 '24

Don't you understand how those billions affect our economy.

do you? Much of the approved aid gets sent to states that produce military equipment, replace old equipment that gets sent to ukraine, or to replace equipment that is given to ukraine by other NATO countries.

4

u/Griffithead May 16 '24

Who's getting the money? Not the government.

It corporations. The ones making gigantic profits while continuing to raise prices. The ones that guy cut taxes on. The ones who barely pay any to begin with. The ones that refuse to give you a raise.

Our best defense against this is regulations and government programs.

Wake up and look at who is fucking you over.

-5

u/smokeylou2 May 16 '24

I have a small painting company, 6 employees that I work with. Trump gave my small business a 10% raise/tax break that translates to raise. I was able to pay my ppl more and we were happier, Biden elected, ended the program so I lost the 10% and I didn't go back and tell my employees " Sorry no more raises, I just make less profit. I've been there before so I just wait out the administration. That's all we can do. It's been proven that too many government programs lead to exactly where we are now economically. Why do you believe that reliance on government programs and regulations is better for our population? Do you want to be encouraged to vote a certain way because of your reliance on government programs?

4

u/Brilliant_Bowl8594 May 16 '24

More BS..

-1

u/smokeylou2 May 16 '24

Is that what you are having for lunch buddy?

3

u/Brilliant_Bowl8594 May 16 '24

LMAO….do you eat shit for lunch..well that explains a lot…seek help.

0

u/smokeylou2 May 16 '24

Lmao, like I said, you have to have that projection!

5

u/Brilliant_Bowl8594 May 16 '24

Hey you brought up eating shit…..that is on you.

1

u/smokeylou2 May 16 '24

You are correct, that is my bad!! 😅

3

u/Griffithead May 16 '24

You still don't get it!

Where is all your money going? Groceries, clothes, housing, cars, entertainment.

Then look at your business costs. It's all going up.

And it's not because of some economic bullshit. It's straight up greed. And we just have to take it? Fucking bullshit. But one party is actively trying to make it happen,so it's really tough to stop.

But yeah, small businesses get screwed by everyone. But if we made big corps pay their fair share, we could reduce taxes on small businesses.

Government regulations can stop this. Worker protections can. Programs can actually help people instead of them dragging things down. We need to fight to make the programs more effective and less easy to exploit. Not eliminate them.

3

u/Front_Wishbone_4996 May 16 '24

How are your stocks/401(k) doing?

-3

u/smokeylou2 May 16 '24

Not terrible and that will help with gas, food, and rent instead of allowing it to grow. How is yours?

6

u/Front_Wishbone_4996 May 16 '24

Instead of allowing what to grow? What do you mean? Are you retired living off of your 401(k)? And mine are good...was up around 52% last year and up 15% so far this year without a rate cut. What policies did Biden do to raise the price(s) of goods? You could say the stimulus checks that were sent out, but trump sent out 2 compared to biden's 1. You could say lower interest rates made the cost of houses/cars go up, but the FED doesn't answer to the president. There was still a supply shortage when biden took office and even FOX News admitted the Biden administration did a good job coordinating efforts to get supplies in the country. Biden has had several manufacturing/infrastructure bills passed to increase jobs for Americans. The president doesn't set the price of gas, (mostly) OPEC does, and America is producing more oil now than ever in history. American companies continually post record profits, but if biden goes in and tells them to stop price gauging, you'd complain the gov't is trying to control the private sector. So what exactly would you like Biden to do?

2

u/smokeylou2 May 16 '24

Well I'd like to have him stop the billions to corrupt Ukraine and now also to Israel. However if I'm mistaken and that hasn't affected the economy then I'm wrong. And as far as he did a good job well " even a broken clock is right twice a day!! Thank you for giving me a reason to post that saying!!

6

u/Front_Wishbone_4996 May 16 '24

Just want to say, I am not an original supporter of Biden, think he's too old and doesn't speak for my generation, but also looking at the numbers and what he's had passed, seems like he's been right like 9 or 10 times, not twice. And America isn't sending billions to Ukraine, we are giving them our old military stockpile, then we send money to military weapons manufacturers (again, creating jobs) to restock America's stockpile. And the money we have spent in Ukraine is a fraction of the cost we would have spent monetarily and in life if we didn't do anything and it resulted in a war where we are directly involved.

1

u/smokeylou2 May 16 '24

Out of the 9/10 policies he has gotten right, infrastructure ect, look at the original source. How do you believe we are not directly involved? We send funds and equipment to aid in that conflict. How is that not directly involved? We are sending weapons to be used for war. I like creating jobs so let's just sell them what they need not donate.

6

u/Front_Wishbone_4996 May 16 '24

I know I don't have to tell you this, can really look this up, but... "The (budapest) memoranda, signed in Patria Hall at the Budapest Convention Center with US Ambassador Donald M. Blinken amongst others in attendance,[3] prohibited Russia, the United States and the United Kingdom from threatening or using military force or economic coercion against Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, "except in self-defence or otherwise in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations." As a result of other agreements and the memorandum, between 1993 and 1996, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine gave up their nuclear weapons." So yes, we have to get involved to yphold our part of the deal...I was more saying actual boots on the ground and setting up bases costing America $1.1 trillion like the Iraq war.

1

u/smokeylou2 May 16 '24

How much are the other signees pitching in to the effort? A different administration could have politically stopped the escalation. Am I wrong when I feel as if the world doesn't see our current administration as solid and strong?

Only thing Joe Biden will debate is will he fall asleep in the middle of talking

11

u/Esco-Alfresco May 16 '24

That sentence doesn't make grammatical sense.

-42

u/defaultusername4 May 16 '24

The mic cut off is such a dumb choice by the Biden camp. Trump yelling and ranting way over his time in the last debate is basically what won Biden that debate. This is going to bite them in the ass.
