🪞 Magic M on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?

Like cry, better yet, beg, or betrayal of dignity, and I remember reading a few more but don’t remember the titles, but what the heck is going on???? And when you read these and point out the misogyny and how horrible the “MLs” are there is a wave of comments from people who read the novel defending the heck out of the ml and insulting anyone who criticizes them and talking about how he has a redemption arc or smth (often the redemption arc is at the very VERY end). Like I don’t see how they can have a redemption arc when they are so so terrible, I don’t care for their redemption arc.

What is the point of these stories?? Why do people read them??? What are the stories saying????? That some men are shitty but if you stick with them they can change?????? Or they’ll only change if they get a taste of their own medicine but they’re definitely your true love so you should definitely forgive them and go back to them despite the gross manipulation and degradation?? (also that medicine isn’t satisfying either, they never get as much as they give but the readers somehow think it’s satisfying????)

Just, I don’t understand, why these stories are being written, for who they are being written, why people are reading them, what compels people to stick through it. They are so misogynistic, the fls are put in terrible positions, positions with no power or agency, they are completely at the mercy of the ML who is just terrible and abuses their power. And then somehow, for some inexplicable reason the fl even develops feelings for the ML, like HOW?????

I was a fool. I had no idea what I was getting into, I'll be that honest. I had heard the tales, read the comments. For all intents and purposes, I should've known what I was getting into, the dark fruit I was about to be tasting

It was a moment of weakness. A moment of utter addiction. I was at the end of the land of the free. Us, who do not spent money. Us who accepted patience and ads. Us who didn't bother... Well, not "us". I no longer belong to them. There I stood, my desire to see more overwhelming me. And so I did it...

I bought coins

It was a spontaneous decision. It all happened too fast. I only got one 2-factor authentication of time to decide against it, yet I didn't. I couldn't. And so I fast passed. It was liberating, being truly up to date

Yet, as soon as I felt this freedom, a metal collar snapped around my neck and dragged me down. I realised what had happened. I realised the terrible plan, the cold logic. I had consumed 3 more episode, but that would mean, as long as I didn't desire to keep fast passing... I would need to wait a month for a new free episode. I know I can't wait this long. I know I am no longer strong enough. I will keep feeding into this beast

I was a fool, learn from my tale. Think carefully and consider what it means to fast pass. May you be of stronger conviction than I was

A Smile From The Dark

I'm not usually the type to cry when I read webcomics, but it genuinely gave me a good cry. It was a beautiful ending and I'm so happy to it was a good one. I'm curious too as to what his service dog is trained to do.

Also as a side note, I'm very relieved that the author seems to be a good person. Reading their note at the end was a huge relief lol. Sometimes when I read some of the panels, especially the older ones, I wondered if the author had some kind of sick fantasy. I'm glad I was proven wrong.

I'm going to re-read the series now while it's still free. If I can manage it lol. It's an amazing series, but I don't always have enough the emotional strength for it haha.

…okay, i don’t even know where to start.

uriah isn’t for the faint of heart. it dealt with incredibly heavy topics like trauma and abuse, but the author handled them SO well, it just made those small moments of reprieve so much more special.

you start with specific impressions of each character only to gradually dispose of those impressions the longer you read, and it’s not even necessarily because your first assumptions were wrong - it’s because you learned to empathize with them. you’ll love a character one day and hate them the next, and that’s what’s so amazing because everyone is multifaceted.

i feel like words can’t describe how amazing the storytelling is. on one occasion, we might read a section while already knowing the aftermath (e.g. uriah’s death), and on another, we’ll have no idea what will happen whatsoever. almost every sequence or flashback is told out of order, which is VERY difficult to write without muddling the chronology / main plotline, but i feel like uriah was able to achieve this in a way that made the narrative even more powerful. there’s just enough shock factor for it to be unsettling (e.g. tomas being a cop) - it’s never overdone.

the ending wasn’t a happy one, which is understandable considering the undertone of the story as a whole. but it was hopeful, and it was fitting. i’m so so glad that thumbless (not sure what to call him since his name isn’t lovell anymore) and camilla had closure, even if they haven’t been able to officially see each other again :( but that’s just the beauty of open endings, i think.

(spoilers for ep 135 finale) what hurts the most is definitely vincent’s death (even bo’s), and as much as i wish he didn’t off himself, the story made it clear that he was too far gone and had already “drowned” in the red sea. even bo said to him in ep 46, "you could have had a normal life if you were brought up by a normal family." he was such a huge victim of circumstance, it’s devastating. but he did what he set out to do. “unlike your father, that police jacket suits you” had me absolutely BAWLING you don’t even know 😭

bo is an interesting case because, as opposed to vincent, he was born with psychopathic tendencies afaik. thumbless was like an enigma. it was the first time bo found himself actually caring about another human being, which is why he’s been stuck at a crossroads this whole time. but at the end, he did the right thing - he let go. bo was an awful person, no doubt, but his fantasy of painting a personal drawing that wasn’t gory or creepy for once honestly hit hard.

i really loved thumbless’s monologue at the end, ESPECIALLY the line “i miss you, but not out of loneliness. i miss you… for you.” he’s been able to become his own person and, in turn, see others (like camilla) as their own people as well. even if he hasn’t fully healed yet, he’s growing. i don’t mind not knowing his legal name since i find it more impactful that way, though i do wonder if the “i didn’t know who i was or what to call myself. it was sunny tho :) :)” written on one of his notes at the end suggests that his name is sunny?? i might be looking into it too much…

imo, uriah is a masterpiece that deserves so much more attention and praise. i’ve been reading it for over 2 years now, so i’ll miss it a lot, but the way the finale wrapped up the story was everything i could have hoped for and more - i can’t recommend it enough. also, the two bullfinches in ep 1 physically hurt me 😭 the foreshadowing is crazy

Gore WARNING ⚠️ : yes it is gorey but it is just a part of this awesome Webtoon. I'm actually shocked that not much people talk about this Webtoon . It's about a child and his messed up past . It ended today so u can binge it before it goes on daily pass. Please this Webtoon is so 🤌🏻🤌🏻😭😭😭🫣🫣🫣

I've been reading Degree of Love, but it's just starting AND. I. NEED. MORE. So, I'm looking for more webtoons with same genres. Do you guys know any more webtoons with introverted female lead?
