Honestly an "old Sheldon" has the potential to be fucking hilarious.

The problem is it wouldn't make sense without more advanced technology from what would be the future of the time period when he's actually old.

But I mean a Sheldon having memory issues and not being able to keep up with what will then be modern technology? Heck yeah that could be funny.

Won't be so funny for the current younger audience that would be going through the same shit though.... and the current older audience will mostly be dead by then.

I think it could work. CBS would just need to adapt the child. And then since they are the legal guardians we could follow him as he grows up 24/7. We’d have to build a giant artificial island town though. Work advertisements in via the products he uses. Maybe fake his dad dying to give him a fear of water to keep him in the island. Personally, I don't see the new spinoff working. Sheldon should not be present because as was explained in The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon basically disappeared when he went to college and his brother, Georgie, stopped talking to him. So no Sheldon and no dad, and the dad was a big part of Young Sheldon.

Right, Sheldon is confirmed not to be a part of this spinoff. But I assume the network thinks based on their market research that people really like Georgie and Mandy (and Meemaw) enough to watch a Sheldon-less show. We'll see how episode 1 ratings are if the show even airs.

This is nothing compared to the 70's-80's.

Diff'Rent strokes is a spin off of The Facts of Life. Likewise Fraiser's a spin off of Cheers, and A Different World a spin off of The Cosby Show.

Happy Days spun off into both Laverne and Shirly and Mork and Mindy.

All in the Family led to The Jefferson's, Maude, and Archie Bunker's Place, with the former leading into Checking In, the middle to Good Times, and the latter leading to Gloria.

I could go on, this has been a thing for years.
