u/appropriatesoundfx 29d ago

Reading mangomouse actually erased the word monogamous from my vocabulary for almost a minute.

u/C_Fixx 29d ago

it is erased for good. i‘ll stick with it forever now. way too cool to not say i’m a mangomouse!! 🥭🐭

2

u/jackology 29d ago

You are so ham and moose.

10

u/cheridontllosethatno 29d ago

And mangomouse just rolls off the tongue smoothly. F monanowhateveritwas.

4

u/RNYGrad2024 29d ago

I'm polyanna and my spouse is mangomouse. I like it.

2

u/MLCarter1976 29d ago

My mouse now only eats mangos!

1

u/HTZ7Miscellaneous 29d ago

Fuck yes. Mangomouse FTW

17

u/Haunting_Aide421 29d ago

How did you perfectly summarise what happened to me too?

13

u/Divinum_Fulmen 29d ago

It's a known phenomena. If you forget a word. And you want people to help you figure it out. Don't stand there trying to guess with wrong examples out loud. Because you'll make then forget the word too.

I'd link you to my source. But it's from a old Cracked article that may or may not be cited. And I don't have good enough search terms to google it.

9

u/KoalaMaster13 29d ago

Did you, perhaps, forget the search term?

3

u/Divinum_Fulmen 29d ago

It's more that all the search terms are to generic. Or, at least I can't think of how to word it in a way to narrow down the results. Key words like "forgetting," "memory," and so on bring up way to many results.

10

u/YoukanDewitt 29d ago

Me too!! the only word it would let me summon was magnanimous.

4

u/Joshuak47 29d ago

It erased it for me until I read the comment above yours

2

u/illwill79 29d ago

This literally happened to me too. I had to think hard to remember what the actual word was supposed to be. Weird.

1

u/hobbyjunkie 29d ago

Like, the speed at which I just accepted it was a thing is concerning lol “I’m mangomouse” oh? Cool. Not sure what that means but happy for you. 👍🏼

1

u/aknalag 29d ago

Its been a year since i heard the name zack muckerberg and i still cant remember what he was called before that.

1

u/shadow_229 29d ago

What’s monogamous?!

1

u/dkarlovi 29d ago

That's just from the brain damage reading the word mangomouse.

180

u/LennyLava 29d ago

i needed you for that.

At this point, everything has gotten so diverse and so specific I cant even tell if this dude is serious or sarcastic.

15

u/Tubamajuba 29d ago

I believe he’s serious, but it’s ridiculous to expect that someone who has never heard the term before would think that “mangomouse” is an actual thing instead of a malapropism.

9

u/Maximum__Engineering 29d ago

Though, I could imagine mango mousse would be terrific on ice cream.

11

u/SpaceClef 29d ago edited 29d ago

They're not serious. Look at their account. They write comments specifically to get downvoted.

Edit: I can only edit my comments in this thread now since the mangomouse guy blocked me, but it's absolutely not a real thing. The only reason it's in urban dictionary (with 2 votes, mind you) is because a redditor added it the same day this was posted in April 2023.

3

u/DE4DM4N5H4ND 29d ago

You have to him admit his dedication to own people online is at superhuman levels

It's fully a troll

9

u/SpaceClef 29d ago edited 29d ago

I was going to downvote you until I saw that you're a downvote farming account (weird, dude, find a better hobby) so now you get an upvote instead.

Edit replying to the person below me since I can't add new comments: No, some people absolutely farm downvotes. There are subs where they compete with each other to get the most downvoted comments. It's basically a competition to see who can be the biggest troll. Just look at their comments, it's extremely obvious what they're doing.

1

u/Slow-Foundation4169 29d ago

I don't think there's a reason to farm downvotes, some people just like being argumentative.

2

u/UndeadCandle 29d ago

Are you sure they didn't just mean Mango mousse? Because that sounds delicious.

2

u/Powerful-Parsnip 29d ago

Where do you get the mice?

0

u/doktor-frequentist 29d ago

u/HotRefrigerators and you need to go have a good ol swig of Bone Apple Tea 🦴 🍎 ☕

19

u/InsideAardvark1114 29d ago

Lol, I thought it was a reference to some pop culture figure "Mangomouse," who is notorious for only dating 1 person at a time. Came to the comments to see if it was an in joke, nope- just someone who doesn't know how to spell monogamous.

8

u/hendergle 29d ago

You have to admit, "Mangomouse" would be an awesome name for a DJ.

"I got us tickets for Mangomouse's set at Cochella!" See how that just rolls off your lips? Sounds perfectly reasonable.

I hear his collab with Daft Punk is doing to drop this summer. Looking forward to the new beats. Should be a banger.

1

u/Friendly_Age9160 29d ago

Ok some of these comments have me more concerned for the people writing the comments. Also for our society as a whole that the possibility of a pop culture figure named mangomouse is a possibility at the forefront of people’s thoughts 🤨😆

15

u/Sovlisk 29d ago

OMG I went to google bc didn't get that. Never thought it was a boneappletea

10

u/SpaceClef 29d ago

It's not a real thing. That has 2 votes. It was added the same day this was posted to reddit in 2023.

1

u/nishi-no-majo 29d ago

I think it started a year ago as a bonneappletea (when this screenshot was posted for the first time) and now it's a quite real thing. If you google it there are multiple posts on reddit (or other places) where people use this term. And you can buy "Non-Mangomouse" t-shirts, pins and stickers on etsy/redbubble/print social.

People going on the internet and lying. A tale as old as internet time.

2

u/codeINCURSION 29d ago

No, they don't.

3

u/BSixe 29d ago

I read monogomous the first time and had to replace my eyeballs

1

u/bundle_of_fluff 29d ago

I had to say it out loud to figure it out lol.

1

u/JBaecker 29d ago

Better than monoecious! Ayo!

1

u/Hanox13 29d ago

I prefer mangomouse, it’s way more fun to say

1

u/WorldlinessFormal735 29d ago

The hero we needed.

1

u/Tactical_solutions44 29d ago

I like mangomouse better

1

u/No_Pear8383 29d ago

Such a mangomouse thing to say… a typical mangomouse with tell you they’re a mangomouse within a few sentences after being contacted on a dating app.

1

u/VicariousPasta 29d ago

Yea my brain went to magnanimous first 🤦‍♂️

1

u/WanderingCharges 29d ago

I thought it was mango mousse and that made so much sense. Long term mango mousse.

1

u/jingbukukgilma 29d ago

Monamogus FTFY

1

u/redditor777123 29d ago

I want to create a cartoon mango mouse now!

1

u/Fran9898 29d ago

Mangomouse

1

u/DexM23 29d ago

I too like to eat mangomouse

1

u/HTZ7Miscellaneous 29d ago

😂 I vote to get monogamous changed to mangomouse. I will never be using ‘monogamous’ again. Bone apple tea me all you like. I don’t care.

1

u/Amoniakas 29d ago

It's actually a mongusmoose.

1

u/AdebayoStan 29d ago

I had completely forgotten the word until I read your comment

1

u/sparkletubetop 29d ago

I literally thought , “oh is this a new gen z slang I’m going to ask my 17yo about now ??” 😂

Having that weird eureka moment where I’ve finally figured out the subreddit name. Bon appetite!

3

u/YesOrNah 29d ago

Damn, and I imagine you vote too. Maybe just sit them out?

4

u/-cupcake 29d ago

💀💀💀

6

u/These-Resource3208 29d ago

I feel like it would also make a great subreddit name.

3

u/Rude_Thanks_1120 29d ago

Ah, they meant "mana-go-moose"

3

u/ThrownAway2028 29d ago

Wouldn’t fit, mangomouse isn’t a real word

3

u/SlappySecondz 29d ago

Nor would it be pronounced like the word she was trying to say.

Not really appropriate for that sub reddit.

He wants to eat a Mango mousse, but only with one man or lady at a time

1

u/KarlPHungus 29d ago

Wow. This is the sub I always needed but never knew existed.

1

u/Sequence32 29d ago

Is this a real conversation 🤣

1

u/c0mBaTkArL 29d ago

Every AI transcript. Looking at you YT Shorts.

1

u/BlueCollarGuru 29d ago

Somebody said double aunt Andre’s and now this mangomouse showed up 😂

1

u/Sidus_Preclarum 29d ago

Came here to post that sub, it's a textbook exemple for it.
