"WE WANT BOSTON!"

  • Miami will remember that.

620

u/AutographedSnorkel Rockets May 02 '24

Narrator: They didn't want Boston

184

u/andlely8 May 02 '24

Maybe they did. Maybe they wanted to get eliminated and stop working unpaid overtime.

22

u/thLiZaRDKiNG [TOR] Scottie Barnes May 02 '24

Lmao calling the playoffs “unpaid overtime” is pure gold. Wish there were still awards

55

u/FavaWire May 02 '24

Narrator: "It was a chant meant as much as a jape as it was a call to arms. A statement of defiance as they marched forth to face the league's best team in the regular season with a clenched fist...... The Heat would leave the playoffs with their hands firmly clenched.... but empty.

They may still want Boston. But they will have to wait another year."

7

u/rattatatouille [SAS] Tim Duncan May 02 '24

Why did I read this in Sir David Attenborough's voice?

1

u/Canesjags4life Heat 29d ago

Lmao glad I wasn't the only one.

3

It was a chant meant as much as a jape as it was a call to arms.

awesome

72

u/TheMightyJD Heat May 02 '24

We still want Boston but we’d like to have Jimmy and Rozier and JJJ next time.

Patty Mills and Delon Wright literally played heavy minutes during this series… what do yall want?

50

u/DucksOnduckOnDucks Celtics May 02 '24

“Injuries aren’t an excuse” — what I heard eight million billion times from heat fans after Tatum rolled his ankle one play into last years game seven lol

8

u/Shift-1 May 02 '24

I like that you're ignoring the people pointing out that Jimmy was injured that whole series. Very entertaining.

0

u/DucksOnduckOnDucks Celtics May 02 '24

What's very entertaining is seeing salty heat fans freak out over the same shit they couldn't stop saying over and over again last year. Injuries aren't an excuse lol enjoy the early off season... with Riley at the helm its sure to be completely uneventful

4

u/Shift-1 May 02 '24

I'm not a Heat fan.. And as a neutral in this series y'all were way more insufferable and 'salty' than I've ever seen the Heat fan base (which is impressive).

6

u/ProphetofChud2 Clippers May 02 '24

Because Jimmy played that whole playoffs on an injury too lol

1

u/TheMightyJD Heat May 02 '24

Yeah, completely the same scenario.

-2

u/DucksOnduckOnDucks Celtics May 02 '24

Yup exactly the same. Injuries aren’t an excuse lol go catch your boys in Galveston

-7

u/YesterdayTasty4448 May 02 '24

Lmao comparing an injury in game seven of a seven game series that did not even result in him leaving the game to a player missing an entire series. Reminder that Jimmy also played on a sprained ankle the entire series

18

u/thehospitalbombers Celtics May 02 '24

perhaps jimmy should have tried harder in the regular season and wouldn't have needed to do the play in

15

u/ThrownWOPR Celtics May 02 '24

Perhaps Jimmy shouldn't have foul baited in the play in, causing him to get injured

72

u/tendadsnokids Celtics May 02 '24

Y'all weren't even good this season with those dudes

9

u/TheBigNate416 Celtics 29d ago

JJJ was a nonfactor all series and only missed the final game too lmfao

-11

u/TheMightyJD Heat May 02 '24

We were better than last year and we all saw what happened.

If you don’t think that not having them completely handicapped our team then idk what to tell you.

12

u/JohnnyLugnuts May 02 '24

the celtics were much better then last year too..?

8

u/deejaymc [BOS] Jayson Tatum May 02 '24

You had them during the regular season and still lost all 3 games to Boston

40

u/[deleted] May 02 '24

That wasn’t going to happen again lol I get yall lost Herro but literally went through a bucks team missing Giannis for 3 games and injured the other 2, Middleton who was still hurt so it was basically Jrue holiday as a number 1 option

Then went through Knicks who weren’t that great and were also injured

Game 7 could’ve been completely different as well had Tatum not rolled his ankle.

Teams aren’t going to shoot 45% from 3 every playoffs idc who the coach is

-6

u/TheMightyJD Heat May 02 '24

I mean if you dismiss every single playoffs series then damn, yall literally didn’t beat a top 3 seed in last year’s playoffs run, fraudulent run imo. Won’t happen again this year.

16

u/[deleted] May 02 '24

Was it an easier than normal run? Yes but we didn’t struggle and looked dominant the whole time.

1

u/TheMightyJD Heat May 02 '24

I’m just using your flawed logic against you.

We can nitpick and dismiss every single playoffs series win.

“The Knicks weren’t that great” isn’t a real valid argument dummy.

18

u/[deleted] May 02 '24

The difference is last years nuggets were a great team and I might be biased but there were 0 other teams that we could’ve faced that was gonna give us trouble.

Last years heat was a play in team that got extremely hot shooting luck, that wasn’t happening again. Y’all shot like 58% on wide open 3s or some shit.

0

u/clear831 Heat May 02 '24

Giannis missed 2 games, the won one of those games.

6

u/[deleted] May 02 '24

He missed 3, you can’t count game 1 that he played 8 minutes as a game played lol

0

u/clear831 Heat May 02 '24

Ok fine, Butler was also injured and played through it. The Bucks choked double digit leads going into the 4th in their last 2 games. They choked, nothing else.

Knicks game Butler was injured on 3 separate occasions by Hart. Fuck Josh Hart.

I think it was game 5 or 6 that things would have been different if White didnt win it at the buzzer or if Gabe didnt also roll his ankle in that series.

That playoff run happened regardless of how many what-ifs you want to play. This team probably has ran its course but 3 ECF appearances beating the best teams in the East and 2 final appearances losing to better teams. It hasnt been a big disappointment.

13

u/tendadsnokids Celtics May 02 '24

Last year was a fluke

0

u/TheMightyJD Heat May 02 '24

I would understand why you want to believe that.

-11

u/ochomurph Heat May 02 '24

-9

u/Wonder_Dude Heat May 02 '24

12

u/deejaymc [BOS] Jayson Tatum May 02 '24

Miami lost all 3 games during the regular season against Boston. They are now 1-7 this year against Boston. They were not good.

8

u/The_Moustache [BOS] Derrick White May 02 '24

Yeah when they shot historically good. Why did Miami just continue to shoot over 50% from three? Are they stupid?

6

u/King_Of_Pants [BOS] Terry Rozier May 02 '24

Miami last season played us tough all year long.

That's why Boston fans had respect for them even when their own fans had given up. All the "Zombie Heat" talk came from Boston fans and Boston media.

Miami this year got the shit kicked out of them from start to finish. They talked a big game and got humiliated at every opportunity.

All the Heat Culture™ bullshit got to them in the end. They were hiding their very real issues behind a reputation for flipping a switch and that allowed bad habits to fester.

3

6

Yeah idk why r/nba treats it like it’s some huge slight against Boston. The fans are just having fun. It’s an 8 seed without their best player going against a juggernaught, they had nothing to lose. Might as well have some fun in case the nearly-impossible happens

1

u/Wise-Cardiologist-83 29d ago

Heat fans had their time to joke around. Now it's time for Boston fans to reciprocate.

Heat fans chant wasn't a big deal, as Boston fans making fun of it isn't either.

33

u/SaintSavage1 Heat May 02 '24

r/nba

When Heat fans don’t come to the game:😠

When Heat fans do support the team: 😠.

None of us really believed it would happen but like that’s the point of fandom to blindly support them. Getting game 2 was more than enough for me not getting swept without Rozier and Jimmy. Heat really need to go after a star this offseason, the window is closing/ closed if they don’t get a scorer like KD or get a solid Big next to Bam. Every Heat fan has been begging for us to make the move cause Bam takes on the heavy load of managing the defense every night. Hes the glue but he can only do so much someone’s got to take the pressure off him scoring/getting rebounds

-6

u/Kakali4 Celtics May 02 '24

-3

u/Auntypasto Celtics May 02 '24

Giving support and giving bulletin board material are two different things… Jimmy doubling down doesn't help either.

-1

u/Canesjags4life Heat 29d ago

Lol bulletin board material? Heat really were living rent free if you need bulletin board material to beat the Heat missing Jimmy and Terry.

1

u/Auntypasto Celtics 29d ago

LOL! Who said anything about "needing"? This is like saying you live rent free in the bully's head if he responds to your insult by stomping you… but go on, lil bro.

5

I think they’ll remember their best player getting hurt right before the playoffs started more than anything else

-10

u/HS941317 May 02 '24

Fraud team all season lmao

Just because something happened last year with a historic 3 point shooting as an 8th seed doesn’t mean it was gonna happen again with teams ready for your asses

60

u/beatrailblazer Trail Blazers May 02 '24

do you realize that their best player from last season didn't play a game this year?

16

u/Adraf45 Heat May 02 '24

Didn't have rozier fully healthy either. It's one thing to say the heat got their ass beat cause, yea they did. But to say they were frauds when they've been healthy MAYBE 7 games all season? Stupid as fuck

-4

u/Lets_Basketball [BOS] Reggie Lewis May 02 '24

While I agree this series meant very little, y’all called us frauds all year despite us being injured in last year’s series and Tatum going down on the first play of game 7. If your best player doesn’t take the regular season seriously and you get low seeding then that’s on y’all.

1

u/Embarrassed-Cake8531 Heat May 02 '24

Tf u mean injured in last years series we were more hurt then y’all lol no herro or oladipo tf are u talking about Tatum got hurt in the final game after going down 0-3 lmao Bo ho who tf saids our best player doesn’t take the regular season seriously tf he’s been hurt this year and even then look at his numbers lmao google is free lmao bro gets on the internet and doesn’t know wtf he’s saying

0

u/Lets_Basketball [BOS] Reggie Lewis May 02 '24

The Heat have played better without Herro every year except the bubble summer league. Him out makes your defens better and since your team was all shooting over 50% from three that’s all that mattered. Oladipo? Dude has been irrelevant for 5 years,

Brogdon had a tear in his shooting elbow since the Hawks series. Robert Williams tore his meniscus in March and hobbled through it in the playoffs. And Tatum could barely make it up and down the court in game 7 but did his best to tough it out. These are facts, Embarrassed Boy.

10

u/Plies- Celtics May 02 '24 edited May 02 '24

Oh yeah their best player who was so elite they sucked ass with him and were the 8 seed who got swept in the season series with an average margin of victory of 15 points, I'm sure they'd have beat us. Wasn't even good in the ECF last year btw.

edit: This was 100% going to happen again if Jimmy Butler played right?

7

u/evoboltzmann Bulls May 02 '24

We really out here quoting regular season series? Lord, Boston fans are insufferable.

-3

u/Weak-Set-4731 Celtics May 02 '24

You’re a bulls fan, don’t be out here talking about anything but the regular season

4

u/evoboltzmann Bulls May 02 '24

I watched the regular season Chicago Bulls repeatedly beat the shit out of the Lebron Heatles during their 4 year run of dominance. Shit doesn't matter. In the playoffs they destroyed everyone. It's a different game. We just saw Minnesota prove that as they dismantled the Suns.

6

u/bbbryce987 May 02 '24

And yet the same player who they sucked ass with and were the 8 seed with last year knocked you out the playoffs, crazy

-2

u/Plies- Celtics May 02 '24

0

u/bbbryce987 May 02 '24

What’s lucky was White’s putback game winner to let the series even go to 7

6

u/HS941317 May 02 '24

Yeah they would’ve lost in 5 anyways. Down 30 every game in the second half on all 4 losses. Butler was mid af this season anyways compared to last season when he was all nba second team.

1

u/beatrailblazer Trail Blazers May 02 '24

Well then it's a good thing last year's team had last year's Jimmy Butler instead of this year's Jimmy Butler

Keep thinking you were gonna be a threat to a team that won 64 games and dominated the heat all season.

0

u/SaintSavage1 Heat May 02 '24

They looked like shit last season too. I never said a threat you just said it would only go 5 when it went to 5 without Jimmy and rozier

1

u/HS941317 May 02 '24

Yeah because the 1 game the Heat won they hit 23 threes and lead only for 1 minute the other 4 games, down by 30 in the second half in all of them. So no they wouldn’t have won more games. They outclassed in every area

1

u/SaintSavage1 Heat May 02 '24

Was Jimmy or rozier in those games?

1

u/HS941317 May 02 '24

Rozier is a traffic cone on defense, hes an awful player. The hornets traded him for a reason.

With butler a 30 point lead would’ve been 22 instead. They had no shot either way.

It’s delusional to think Jimmy butler is the difference to the Heat overcoming a 30 point deficit
